English DVD to cold-calling salesman. Tue, Nov 3, 2009.

11/03/2009. 1198. I was at a client's office in an office complex doing computer work. This client is a member of the church, and knows my modus operandi about giving out material. A salesman came in the door to make a cold-call to solicit business. He was soliciting people for their personal business, not the company. We both turned the gentleman down, though I did accept a brochure. But we continued to make small talk since we had some computer history in common.

Since this guy was bold enough to make a cold-call, and even bolder to solicit people for their personal business while they were on company time, I decided to be a little bold in return. I offered him a couple of church DVDs, Mr. Kreuger's Christmas, and Joy to the World.

He accepted the Joy to the World DVD.

Are these items the church pays for, or do you pay for them out of pocket? Is there a place you order BOM and DVD in bulk and get a discount?

1. I pay for them out of my pocket.

2. Yes, you can order them (both BoMs and DVDs in bulk at www.ldscatalog.com, or by phone, or by snail-mail (address and phone # on the ldscatalog.com web site).

3a. There are no quantity discounts on the BoM, except you always get free shipping, no matter how many you buy, so that's always a deal. If you call, you can ask the order-taker how many is in a case and order an even case-full. Some items have the case quantity noted on the web site. There are 40 hard-cover English BoMs in a case.

3b. You _do_ get a substantial discount if you order a case of DVDs. Most have 50 per case. "Testaments" has 30 per case. The newest "Finding Happiness" has 100 per case. (Though that DVD is not exactly appropriate for North American English-speakers, or Western Hemishere Spanish-speakers, due to the Britain/Spain accents used in the English/Spanish narration.)

See the category "Video Recordings" at ldscatalog.com for all videos.

See my post here, for the appropriate videos to give out, along with a quick description, and case prices.
